Many fans were expecting the iPhone 5 at Apple's recent iPhone 4S announcement. With media build-up and the later launch date, many fans felt strongly that Apple would announce a brand new iPhone device, complete with a form factor change. Instead, Apple revealed the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 4S brings to life a powerful device that now sets the standard for smartphones. While the iPhone 4S may look like the iPhone 4, inside it's all new with a dual-core, A5 processor, 8 megapixel camera and Siri, the personal assistant feature.

It appears that a new device with a new form-factor comes every 2 years, with a device upgrade the years between. For those with an iPhone 3 / 3GS, the iPhone 4S comes at a time when their 2-year contracts have expired. It may not be the expected iPhone 5, but it’s an upgrade definitely worth considering. The speed of the iPhone 4S alone makes the upgrade worthwhile.

If all goes as expected, the iPhone 5 should be launched in the summer of 2012. With that said, the chatter about the iPhone 5 has already begun. A form-factor change, perhaps with rumored aluminum back, improved battery life and new iOS software will all (probably) accompany the new device. A multi-gesture home button and perhaps even 3-D technology are also being talked about. Regardless, Case-Mate will be ready with an abundance of iPhone 5 cases and covers.
