Unsatisfactory product quality
I had reservations about purchasing the casemate bold 9000 backpack as a few of the customer reviews mentioned quality issues. But as I am quite tired of having the same standard backpack that everyone else has, I decided to buy one anyway.
I received the package just yesterday and the quality was just as the reviews highlighted- edges were peeling off and the finishing left a lot to be desired.
To top it all off, imagine my frustration when I logged into the casemate website again to post this review and to my exasperation, I realised that the price has been reduced from the 19.99 which I just paid, to 9.99. I wouldn't have minded so much if I was very happy with the product but alas...

disappointed
I purchased 2 blackberry bold 9000 backpacks, one for myself & one as a christmas gift. When the package arrived & I tried to fit it onto my blackberry, it could not snap & lock nicely into place, unlike the original backpack. And the finishing is of very poor quality, with raw & uneven edges that look like they will peel off very soon. It doesn't look too bad from a distance, but close up, it is really quite unacceptable. I am now in a dilemma whether to still go on to give the second one I bought as a present as intended. I am worried the recipient may be offended at my giving her a gift that is of such poor quality. I am also definitely keeping my original backpack as I am quite sure I will be needing it fairly soon.

Leather version is not so great
I bought the brown version of the back pack. In the picture it looked great but when I got the product it looked really cheap. The texture looks as if it was hand cut and glued onto the backing. I dont know if I got a bad version or if theyre all like this. It fits nicely but I think most people buying this wants the product to look better not half glued on.

It looks great when it's on, good luck to getting it off
I got a Bold with my carrier to reduce the number of devices I was carrying (I had a personal cell, and a blackberry from my employer. This consolidated the 2). The leather back cover has always seemed a bit incongruous to me. In shopping for a mobile charger for the phone, I found the fuel, and from there, the backpacks.
I got the black carbon fiber cover about a month ago, and was happy with it from the moment I took it out of the package. It feels great, and it even affects the vibration nicely as opposed to the leather cover (less 'rattle'). Thanks to the Fuel, I've dropped my phone once onto pavement, and the back cover survived nicely (too bad about the bezel).
Any Blackberry owner knows that popping the battery is a part of life (at least once a week, sometimes multiple times in a day). Here is where the backpack gives me difficulty and loses a star. To say that popping the cover off is difficult doesn't convey the sore thumbs and cursing that accompanies trying to get to the battery, most especially if you're in a hurry. Sometimes the door partially pops off, but not enough to be pulled free, and has to be 'clicked' back in to try again. Sometimes it seems the release button has no effect at all. I don't recommend getting the backpack if you're a stress-laden nailbiter - unless you keep tools which serve the same function as a fingernail to pry the cover open, and pry you must.
Overall, the above issue, while not minor, is not enough to yet make me want to go back to the weird leather-looking cover. I find the phone has an improved grip thanks to the material (I can't speak for the reptilian-skin-looking options, but the carbon fiber version is great). I am, now more than ever, inclined to keep this cover on as my employer just switched carriers and will be providing the entire company with Bolds, this will help to identify mine.
